Password Safety: Simple System You'll Actually Follow
Strong unique passwords without memorising 50 of them - the realistic approach.
By DigitalNepal · Updated 2026-09-15
Reused passwords cause most account takeovers: one leak exposes everything. You need unique passwords for important accounts and a manager to remember them.
Steps
1Install a password manager
Bitwarden (free) or your browser's manager. One master password to remember, the rest auto-filled.
2Prioritise 5 accounts
Email, Facebook, Google, banking/wallets, and Apple ID get unique 14+ character passwords first.
3Turn on 2FA everywhere important
Authenticator app preferred; SMS as backup. Save recovery codes on paper.
4Check past leaks
If an old password appears in a breach, change it everywhere it was reused.
Good to know: No manager? At minimum use a notebook kept at home - far safer than reusing one password everywhere.
FAQ
Are password notebooks okay?
For home users yes - thieves are online, not in your drawer. Digital reuse is the bigger risk.
