Mild warmth during gaming or fast charging is normal. But heat during idle use, swelling, or sudden shutdowns signal a real problem - usually a rogue app, weak signal, or a failing battery.
Steps
1Find the hot app
Check Settings > Battery usage. An app using 30%+ battery in the background is the likely heater - restrict its background use or uninstall it.
2Charge correctly
Use the original or a quality charger, remove thick covers while charging, and avoid gaming while plugged in.
3Turn off unused radios
Disable hotspot, Bluetooth and location when not needed, especially in weak-signal areas where the phone works harder.
4Update apps and system
Overheating bugs are often fixed in updates. Update the OS and the suspect app.
5Check for swelling
If the back cover bulges or the screen lifts, stop using the phone and visit a service centre - swollen batteries are a fire risk.
Good to know: Never put an overheated phone in the freezer - rapid cooling cracks components and traps moisture inside.
