Recharge, SIM Replacement and Registration: One Guide
Top up any network, replace lost SIMs, and keep registration details correct.
By DigitalNepal · Updated 2026-10-04
Three SIM chores everyone faces: adding balance, replacing a lost/damaged SIM, and keeping the registered owner details accurate for OTPs and mobile banking.
Steps
1Recharge through wallets
eSewa, Khalti or mobile banking top-ups are instant and receipted. Enter the number twice - wrong-number recharges rarely reverse.
2Replace lost SIMs fast
Visit the operator's service centre with citizenship. Replacement restores your number for OTPs and wallets - do it before anything else.
3Register in your own name
SIMs registered to shops or relatives cause KYC failures later. Transfer ownership officially with documents.
4Roaming only when needed
Enable international roaming before travel and buy a travel pack - default roaming rates shock. Use hotel Wi-Fi for heavy use.
Good to know: A lost phone means lost OTPs: replace the SIM first, then reset passwords. Order matters.
