How to Fix 404 Not Found Error (As Visitor and Site Owner)
Wrong link, moved page or typo - recover in seconds either way.
By DigitalNepal · Updated 2026-10-04
404 means the server is fine but that exact address has nothing. Visitors recover via search; owners fix with redirects.
Steps
1Check the URL
Look for typos, extra spaces (%20), or truncated links from forwards. Retype carefully.
2Go up one level
Delete the last path part to reach the parent section, then navigate or search from there.
3Use search/cache
Google the page title, or view cached/archived copies for moved content.
4Owners: redirect it
Map old URLs to new ones (301). Never leave money pages 404ing - link equity dies with them.
Good to know: Bookmark the corrected address after finding it - repeated 404s usually mean a stale bookmark.
