YouTube Live Setup: Go Live from Phone or OBS
Requirements, stream-key setup, and settings for stable Nepali-network streams.
By DigitalNepal · Updated 2026-09-15
YouTube Live needs a verified account (24-hour wait for first enable) and stable upload. Phone streaming is easiest; OBS gives overlays and multi-source control.
Steps
1Enable live streaming
YouTube Studio > Create > Go live, verify by phone, and wait out the first-time 24 hours.
2Copy the stream key privately
Never show your stream key on screen - anyone with it can stream as you.
3Start with 720p
720p30 at modest bitrate survives Nepali evening congestion far better than 1080p60.
4Test unlisted first
Do a 5-minute unlisted test checking audio sync, chat delay and drops.
Good to know: Keep children and location details off live streams. Live cannot be edited after.
FAQ
Why does my stream buffer?
Upload instability. Drop to 720p, use cable internet, and stop other uploads.
