A share-price calculator answers four questions: how much did I invest, what is the sale worth, what is my gross profit, and what percent return is that. Net profit then subtracts the current broker commission, regulatory fees, DP charges and taxes - which change, so this guide uses editable fields, never hard-coded 'current' rates.
Work the example below by hand once so you trust the tool, then use the Digital Nepal Share Price Calculator embedded on this page for your own scenarios. Educational content only - never investment advice.
Steps
1Enter buy price and quantity
Investment equals buy price multiplied by quantity. Example: Rs. 500 x 100 shares = Rs. 50,000 invested.
2Enter the sell price
Gross sale value equals sell price multiplied by quantity. Example: Rs. 650 x 100 = Rs. 65,000 sale value.
3Read gross profit and return percent
Gross profit equals sale value minus investment (Rs. 65,000 - Rs. 50,000 = Rs. 15,000). Return percent equals gross profit divided by investment times 100 (15,000 / 50,000 x 100 = 30%).
4Subtract current charges for net profit
Brokerage slabs, SEBON fees, DP charges and capital-gains tax follow current schedules - SEBON publishes a brokerage service-charge schedule and an investors' handbook, but slabs revise. Enter your broker's current slip figures into the calculator's editable fields and note the effective date.
5Average multiple purchases correctly
Total cost across all buys divided by total shares equals average buy price. Model bonus and right shares as separate lots with dates - bonus shares add quantity at zero extra cost and lower the average, while rights add quantity at the rights price.
6Decide with net figures, not gross
Compare net profit across scenarios (early exit vs holding, one scrip vs another) and keep trade confirmations. Shares can fall - verify tips independently, avoid pump groups, and invest only what you can afford to lose.
| Measure | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Investment | 500 x 100 | Rs. 50,000 |
| Sale value | 650 x 100 | Rs. 65,000 |
| Gross profit | 65,000 - 50,000 | Rs. 15,000 |
| Return % | 15,000 / 50,000 x 100 | 30% |
| Net profit | Gross profit minus current charges | Lower - confirm with broker |
Good to know: Broker commission, SEBON fees, DP charges and taxes change. Confirm the latest schedule with your broker and SEBON notices before trading - Facebook rate cards go stale, and gross profit is never your real profit.
FAQ
Is gross profit my real profit?
No. Subtract the current brokerage, regulatory fees, DP charges and applicable taxes to reach net profit.
How is return percent calculated?
Gross profit divided by investment, multiplied by 100.
How do bonus shares change my average?
They add shares at zero extra cost, lowering the average price. Model them as a separate dated lot.
How do right shares change my average?
They add shares at the rights price. Add rights cost to total cost and rights quantity to total shares, then re-average.
Are the calculator's charge rates current?
Only the dated editable defaults you see. Enter your broker's current slip figures and note the date.
Is this investment advice?
No. This guide and calculator are educational. Markets carry risk - verify everything with your broker.
