Real mileage comes from riding style, tyre pressure and maintenance - not magic additives.

Fuel per day: 0.67 litres

Fuel prices change often - enter the current pump rate. Smooth riding and correct tyre pressure improve real mileage.

Most riders get 10-20% below their vehicle's potential mileage from aggressive acceleration, low tyre pressure and skipped servicing.

Measure first with the fuel cost tool, fix the habits below, then measure again after two full tanks.

Steps

  1. 1Check tyre pressure monthly

Soft tyres drag. Follow the manual's PSI (usually on a sticker near the engine) - check cold, monthly.

  2. 2Ride smooth, not fast-slow

Gradual acceleration and early, gentle braking beat racing to red lights. Steady 40-50 km/h sips fuel.

  3. 3Service on schedule

Dirty air filters, old spark plugs and thick oil each steal mileage. Follow the service book, not breakdowns.

  4. 4Cut idle and excess weight

Switch off at 60+ second stops. Remove that permanently-mounted heavy top box if unused.

  5. 5Track every tank

Note odometer and litres each refill. Falling mileage warns of problems before breakdowns do.

Good to know: Fill from trusted pumps and compare mileage per pump. Consistently low readings from one station mean short-fuelling.
